【2019 區議會選舉 District Council Election 】當選宣言 A Letter to my Voters

究竟2363位選民當中，有多少是投給中大理大被困的學生，有多少是投給犧牲了的抗爭者，有多少是投給民主自由的理念，又剩下多少是投給我羅偉珊呢？
這是我當選以來的第一道問題。
我唯一的答案是「謙卑」。
謙卑，因為區議會只是眾多戰線之一。許多許多的抗爭者，依然在更危險的境地寸土必爭。他們的犧牲是區議會選舉勝利的因由之一，「每一張選票撕下來都淌著血」是不爭的事實。
謙卑，因為「羅偉珊贏了」是一句以偏概全的陳述。區議會一役的勝利，來自每一位選民、每一位街坊、每一位義工的共同努力。感激團隊中的每一位義工，你們一步一腳印、默默耕耘的付出成為了打破二十四年來建制壟斷議會的最後一根稻草。感激每一位投票給我的選民，你們的每一張選票都是擲地有聲的表態，切切實實地將建制和他們背後的價値拒諸門外。勝利，不因我一人。勝利，歸於愛群。
謙卑，因為身為一位新人，我每天均需要認識更多灣仔人、灣仔事、灣仔街坊，認真思考每一位居民的意見和提點。同時，揮著「自主自發」的旗號，我期望透過連結和動員，區議會與居民的關係不再單元，而是一整個社區齊上齊落，互相聆聽、共同參與，一起以智慧和創意成就我們嚮往的愛群，變革將始於社區。
致1750位選民，或許我們的政治立場未必相近，或許你對於政治素人煞有戒心，或許你認為我的表現未如理想。無論如何，未來四年，我將會盡最大的能力，認識你們、聆聽你們、協助你們。連結愛群，將會是我任內最大的挑戰、亦會是我最大的成就。
「只要心存良知、堅守公義，便沒有人可以將你擊倒。」
當白色恐怖瀰漫於整個競選工程，我和義工團隊每日都戰戰兢兢、擔心吊膽之時，朋友送來的一席話，支撑著我走過了選戰中最後的一個月。
未來四年，變幻莫測，恐懼和打壓更可能無日無之。
然而，我相信，只要我們心存良知、堅守公義、相信彼此、擁抱社群，我們一定會在自己的社區找到最堅韌的力量，面對亂世中的起伏跌宕。
香港人、灣仔人、愛群人，願我們都能挺胸昂首，在狂濤怒海之中，依然邁步向前，直至五大訴求一一兌現。
愛群一定會贏，香港亦會一齊贏。
Among the 2363 votes, how many of them were meant for the students trapped inside CUHK and PolyU? How many were meant for the protestors who have shed blood and endured jail time? How many were meant for the ideals of democracy and freedom? How many left were meant for me, Susi Law?
That was my first question after the election.
My only answer was ‘stay humble’.
Stay humble, because the District Council election is only one of the many arenas in this movement. Countless protestors are still fighting their way to democracy in battlegrounds that scream dangers. Their sacrifice is one of the major forces that pushed us to victory in this election. Behind every ballot, the blood of the protestors stains.
Stay humble, because ‘Susi Law has won’ is an understatement. The triumph of the District Council election comes from the collective effort of every voter, every neighbor, and every volunteer. Thanks to the volunteers, their unsung but tireless endeavors turned into the last straw that broke the pro-Beijing camp’s dominance of the council. Thanks to voters who cast their votes for me, their ballots voiced out a concrete NO to the pro-Beijing camp and slammed the door upon the values that the camp was eager to shove down our throats. I do not own the victory. Victory belongs to Oi Kwan.
Stay humble, because as a newbie, I must work hard to get to know more Wan-Chai-ers, more Wan Chai affairs, and more Oi Kwan neighbors, taking their ideas and suggestions into my most serious consideration. Meanwhile, under the flag of ‘We engage! We empower!’, I look forward to transforming the relationship between the District Councilor and the residents via connection and mobilization. Instead of maintaining a dull and distant link among us, it is time for the entire community to come together, to listen to each other, and to get involved collectively with the unanimous aim of building the Oi Kwan that we all long for with wisdom and creativity. Reforms begin in communities.
Dear 1750 voters, perhaps my political stance is far from yours. Perhaps, you are skeptical of a political rookie. Perhaps, you deem my work unsatisfactory. Regardless of our differences, in the coming four years, I will strive, at my full capacity, to understand you, to listen to you, and to assist you. Connecting Oi-Kwanians will be my most prominent challenge in the coming term and yet my greatest achievement as well.
‘When we hold conscience in our souls and defend justice with our hearts, no one can ever defeat you.’
In times when white terror clouded our election campaign and when my team and I shivered under the smell of fear, those words from a friend kept me going during the last month of my campaign.
In the next four years, fear and oppression may shadow our days and nights.
However, I believe, if we hold conscience in our souls, defend justice with our hearts, place our faith in each other, and embrace our community, we will doubtlessly find the most resilient strength in our community to stand tall during the best of times and the worst of times.
Hongkonger, Wai-Chai-ers, and Oi-Kwanians, may we hold our heads up high, amidst the waves and the storms, and keep marching on, until the day when the five demands are met.
Oi Kwan will win. So will Hong Kong.
